Conflict resolution internationally
The DCCR is strongly committed to the enhancement of nonviolent conflict resolution in Denmark and abroad. Our objectives are:
- To contribute to nonviolent conflict resolution in todays conflicts.
- To inspire people working in conflict zones, and to be inspired by them.
- To build conflict resolution capacity in organisations in the global South.
We strongly believe in peacebuilding from below through support to local peacebuilding organisations.
Since the DCCR was established in 1994, we have trained thousands of citizens from all walks of life in Denmark in addition to international stakeholders. The DCCR assists political parties, NGOs, public housing areas, private individuals, and public and private sector organisations in resolving their conflicts using methodologies such as mediation, conflict analysis incl. do-no-harm, group processes and restorative justice.
The DCCR offers a number of free activities including conflict coaching and training of youth active in NGOs. Theoretically and methodologically we stand on the shoulders of Johan Galtung, Mohandas Ghandi, J. P. Lederach, Marshall Rosenberg, O. Ramsbotham and others. Just as we have been inspired by Nelson Mandela, Desmond Tutu and Gene Sharp.
